The Swiss industrial company Patiswiss, for its Gunzgen factory in the canton of Soleure, wanted to automate the feeding with icing sugar of an EPC 60 bagger.
The raw materials
The sugar is packed in one ton Big Bags.
The implanted procedure
At the outlet of a buffer batch equipped with a stirrer, located under a sugar grinder, Patiswiss installed a 6-m flexible auger to transfer the raw materials to an EPC 60 bagger. "Until now, this operation was carried out manually, states Mathieu Schmitt, an employee in the R&D department. This automation allows us to reach filling speeds of one 20-kg bag per minute, which is a gain in terms of productivity of more than 30%."
Another advantage for the Swiss industrial, the conveying in a closed circuit prevents any dispersion of the icing sugar in the workshop. "There is an improvement in the working comfort for the operators, and also an improvement in cleaning time. The quick dismounting system, combined with complete rear emptying, facilitates maintenance for the spire."
Convinced of the competitive advantage provided by the technology developed by Apia Technologie, Patiswiss is already anticipating feeding the bagger with a second line dedicated to pastry mixes. "The technical layout, in particular the electrical connections, have already been set up in order to receive a second flexible auger."
