Lacto Food France in Saint-Samson sur Rance (22) is specialised in the milk powder trade and wanted to increase the capacity of its bagging line.
The Raw Materials
Milk powders are packaged in all types of Big Bags or in bags.
The Implemented Procedure
Carried out manually until now, the bagging of milk powders, at the outlet of a 800 kg mixer, is now done automatically using a 2-m flexible auger. "We wanted to increase productivity in order to meet increasing demand, explains Sylvain Fournier, manager of Lacto Food France. It now takes 40 seconds to fill a 25-kg bag, and it used to take 90 seconds."
Installing a de-bridging paddle, upstream of the auger, made it possible to limit problems with the space taken up by the raw materials at the outlet of the mixer. "For certain recipes, stoppages in production were becoming disadvantageous. This is no longer the case. We have also made gains in accuracy since the spire limits dosing differences to +/- 50 g."
Compact, the installation has significantly reduced the presence of dust in the workshop. "Powders are conveyed in a fully-closed circuit since a plug seal was installed at the auger outlet, in order to provide the connection with the bags. The cleaning steps, as well as the strain of the station, were substantially reduced."
