Somapro, the dehydrated food product manufacturer based in Reims (51), wanted to obtain a pilot installation for the supply of sweet or salty products in order to ramp up its new packaging equipment.
The Raw Materials
The raw materials are packaged in 700 kg Big Bags.
The Implemented Procedure
In the framework of renewing its set of machines, Somapro, before moving into full production, wanted to ramp up its new packaging installations. "This step of industrial optimisation is strategic in order to be operational immediately in terms of linearity in productivity", states Éloïse Bruneau, assistant to the continuous improvement manager.
In a room adjacent to the packaging zone, Somapro installed a Big Bag emptying station that is connected to the test machines via a 3-m flexible auger. "We started out with configuring the packaging machine for containers for ranges sold in hypermarkets and supermarkets. Our approach continued with a sweet product bagger and then a packaging machine for salty products."
After a few weeks of calibration, the equipment was switched over to the "real" world of production. The spire has the advantage of reproducing the conditions for conventional supply via gravity or Archimedes' screw. This practical solution can be modulated and is competitive in carrying out this type of technical settings."
